Lord, today we pray for the visit
of U.S. President Barak Obama to Palestine and Israel, especially as talks are
ongoing in Ramallah. May the decision-makers in the meetings pay heed to the
needs of the people, seeking real solutions and taking progressive steps
towards justice and peace for all. Lord, would you give President Obama courage
to stand up for the rights of the Palestinian people and to adjust American
foreign policy accordingly. Lord, in your mercy...
God of comfort, we mourn with the
families of over 15 Palestinians killed and over 30 injured in a bus crash in
Jordan, as those on board traveled home from the ‘Omra pilgrimage to Mecca last
weekend. Please send your presence and peace to all affected as they grieve
this loss. Lord, in your mercy...
As the end of Lent ushers in Holy
Week on the Christian calendar and as Passover approaches for our Jewish
brothers and sisters, Lord, make us mindful of you and of the meaning of this
holy season. May these celebrations remind us of the grace and mercy you show
to all humanity, and may we more readily offer these same gifts to those around
us. Shape us into the loving, life-filled people you created us to be. Lord, in
your mercy...
As always, we bring before you
all the upcoming work of Sabeel: from youth meetings to community gatherings of
the Clergy’s wives, from international advocacy as Rev. Naim travels in the
U.S. to the presentations for international groups who continue to visit the
center. We especially ask your blessing for the ecumenical prayer service to be
held by Sabeel Nazareth on Wednesday of Holy Week in honor of Lent and of the
Feast of the Annunciation. Please guide us, bless this work, and correct us
where we err. Lord, in your mercy...
Finally, we pray alongside the
World Council of Churches for the countries of Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam.
Lord, in your mercy...
