God of mercy,
please comfort the families of the two Palestinian boys killed by Israeli
forces last Thursday at a peaceful Nakba demonstration. Their deaths cast a
shadow over the entire Ramallah community, and we pray that people would feel
your presence in the midst of this tragedy. And though two boys should not have
to be killed before the world takes notice, we pray that this event inspires
the international community to stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people
and condemn the violence of the Israeli occupation. Lord in your mercy…
Loving God, Pope
Francis begins his visit to the Middle East this weekend,
hoping to strengthen ties with local Catholics and other Christians. Please
bless his visit, especially as he meets with Palestinian families across Israel
and Palestine and as he meets Orthodox Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomewof
Constantinople, and open his eyes to see the truth of the situation in the Holy
Land. Lord in your mercy…
God of justice,
this week the Israeli Supreme Court begins its analysis of peace activist
Rachel Corrie’s death in 2003 at the hands of the Israeli army. We pray that
the Corrie family feels strengthened and comforted by their supporters in
Israel and Palestine, and that this appeal would be a chance for justice to
finally be done. Lord in your mercy…
Lord, we give
