1/5/14 - English

Merciful God, we ask for your protection over the many Palestinians held prisoner under Israeli administrative detention who face physical and mental abuse at the hands of their captors. As many prisoners engage in a hunger strike protesting their detention, we hope that the international community recognizes the injustices and works to put an end to this abusive system. Lord in your mercy…

Lord, we are thankful for the reconciliation between the rival Palestinian political factions which was announced last week, and pray that the unity described in the agreement transcends politics and binds the entire Palestinian community as one. Let this initiate an era of unified nonviolent resistance against occupation and society-wide striving for peace. Lord in your mercy…

Lord, please bless the people and countries currently undergoing elections, particularly Afghanistan, Iraq, and India. Please bring peaceful political transitions in the midst of difficult circumstances, and impart courage on these populations to face down injustice and build societies based on unity and peace. Lord in your mercy…

Gracious God, please bless the many visitors and groups who will be touring the Holy Land in the coming month, opening their hearts to the truth and empowering them to seek justice on their return home. Make your presence known among the Sabeel staff as they coordinate activities for the local community and the international supporters, including Sabeel Nazareth’s meetings. Lord in your mercy…

Lord, we pray alongsidethe World Council of Churches forthe countries of Eritrea and Ethiopia. Lord in your mercy…
