12/5/2016 English

Israel expropriated land in Sheikh Jarrah from an East Jerusalem Palestinian family without a tender and against the rules, then handed it over to Amana, an organization that works to establish illegal Jewish-only settlements and outposts.  Amana, founded by the Gush Emunim religious settlement movement in 1979, is an Israeli private body whose purpose is the establishing and expanding of illegal West Bank settlements.

Gracious God, “our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil…” (Ephesians 6:12).  Lord, families in Palestine are vulnerable.  Every day we are stripped of our property and rights.   Grant our people the power to stand steadfast in courage and to challenge the injustice.
Lord, in your mercy…

Major General Yair Golan, Deputy Chief of Staff, said on the eve of Holocaust Memorial Day that he “recognized a similarity between modern Israeli society and events that happened in Europe and Germany before the Holocaust.”   Israeli PM, Benjamin Netanyahu, has issued a stern public rebuke to the military General.

Lord, we are thankful for all the people who speak truth to power, especially when it comes from an unexpected source and at an unexpected time.
Lord, in your mercy…

Israeli leaders are contemplating unilateral actions and threatening to annex 60 percent of the West Bank territories.  Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked is leading a renewed charge to apply Israeli civil law to the West Bank settlers, a move that would indicate more than just “annexation” but a fatal and irreversible change to the status quo.

Lord, our oppressors continue to dig the grave deeper everyday to bury our dreams of independence and freedom.  Please do not abandon us.  We ask you to be present with all the people of this land who work for a just peace and true reconciliation.
Lord, in your mercy…

We praise God for the upcoming series of Sabeel young women’s gatherings.  May the sisterhood and solidarity among the young women of Sabeel be a testimony to the strength and beauty of Christ-centered friendship.
Lord, in your mercy…

We pray alongside the World Council of Churches for the countries of Sudan, South Sudan and Uganda.

Lord, in your mercy…
