26/4/12 - English

We join with the Armenian people this week as they mournfully commemorate the Armenian Genocide that began in 1915, in which over 1.5 million Armenians were massacred. By God’s grace, we pray that humanity will grow in wisdom, and find ways to prevent genocide. Lord in your mercy…

We pray for the United Methodist General Conference, who will debate in committees this week about divestment from multi-national corporations that profit from the Israeli occupation.  Much careful and prayerful work has been done to bring the resolution to this point, and Palestinian Christians affected by the occupation will be present to speak to delegates and answer questions. We pray for clear communication between concerned Methodists on the issue, and that the resolution will pass to the Conference floor for a vote. Lord in your mercy…

We rejoice with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Jordan and the Holy Land as they ordained Ashraf Tannous on Sunday in Jerusalem’s Lutheran Church of the Redeemer.  We pray for young clergy everywhere in the Holy Land. We ask God to strengthen them for their journey, as they face many challenges to Christian ministry here.  Lord in your mercy…

We pray for success and safety for Sabeel Nazareth’s programs this week, on the 28th of April a meeting for the children, and on the 29th a trip to Ein Karem, a former Palestinian village now incorporated into West Jerusalem and Beit Jamal, where an important Christian monastery is located. We entrust this educational experience to God. Lord in your mercy…

We pray for the Sabeel Jerusalem Study Circle today. Rev. Dr. Donald Wagner, the new Program Director of Friends of Sabeel North America will give a presentation entitled “Bankrupting Justice: Challenging Christian Zionism in Western Evangelical and Mainline Protestant Churches.  We pray that the event leads to greater understanding of the international aspects of the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict, and inspire participants to be advocates for inclusivity, peace, and justice in this land and around the world. Lord in your mercy…

With the World Council of Churches, we specifically pray for the churches and populations in Djbouti and Somalia.  Lord in your mercy…
