19/4/12 - English

In light of Palestinian Prisoners day, Palestinians incarcerated in Israeli jails are initiating coordinated hunger strikes this week, and over 1,600 of them plan to participate. Among other things, they are protesting Israel’s policy of administrative detention, a policy that has allowed thousands of Palestinians to be detained without charge or trial since 1967. We pray for the success of this nonviolent approach.  We also pray that the conditions will be created that lead to serious negotiations for peace and justice. Lord in your mercy…

God of Earth and Heaven, we ask for your clarity to guide the northern and southern Sudanese people.  Protect innocent people from the raging battle over land and oil resources, and instill the desire for a nonviolent resolution to the conflict. Lord in your mercy…

We pray for the Sabeel youth program on Friday on the Mount of Olives. We pray for the young people of the Palestinian Christian community, as they continue to wrestle with the tough choices posed to them by the ongoing occupation.  We pray for their faith and their ability to find a livelihood in this land. Lord in your mercy…

We pray for the meeting of the International Friends of Sabeel coordinators taking place in Amsterdam, Netherlands on April 23rd.  We pray for inspiration and good fellowship amongst the coordinators, who will welcome the new Friends of Sabeel Brazil to the advocacy table. As the meeting will be partially in-person and partially on Skype, we pray for timely arrivals and clear internet connections to enable the group’s communication across time and space.  Lord in your mercy…

With the World Council of Churches, we specifically pray for the churches and populations of Japan, North Korea, South Korea, and Taiwan.  Lord in your mercy…
