We
lift up our eyes to the hills, from where cometh our help. We pray for the Syrian refugees, escaping to
the hills and enclaves of surrounding countries, especially Lebanon and Jordan.
As the number of families fleeing the violence increases daily, we pray for the
organizations working to meet their basic needs. Lord in your mercy…
We
pray that the intensifying rhetoric between Israel and Iran will calm, and that
the two countries will resolve their political differences without war. Lord in
your mercy…
We
pray for Yang Yoo-Mo, on hunger strike to preserve Jeju, a Korean island. Officially named the “Island of
World Peace,” Jeju was the site of a 1948 massacre in which more than 30,000
civilians were killed during a democratic uprising. Now, the plan to construct a naval base
threatens the island’s people, its unique land and water ecosystems. An international call to “Save Jeju Island”
has had success in the recent past, but Yang Yoo-Mo and the nonviolent social
protest will continue until it is clear that this land and water will not be
destroyed. We pray for strength and
wisdom for the ongoing struggle. Lord in your mercy…
We
pray for safe travels for Sabeel director Naim Ateek as he travels to Norway,
for a full program organized by Friends of Sabeel Norway. We pray for old bonds to be strengthened and
new connections to be made. Lord in your
mercy…
On
Saturday, Sabeel Jerusalem will host the Contemporary Way of the Cross
pilgrimage, for the young adults in the area. We pray that this contextual
gospel experience will enrich the faith of the Palestinian youth. Lord in your mercy…
With
the World Council of Churches, we specifically pray for the churches and populations
of Andorra, Austria, Liechtenstein, Monaco, San Marino, and Switzerland. Lord in your mercy…
