Around 18,000 Palestinians in the
Yarmouk refugee camp in Syria are in desperate need of evacuation from the camp,
which came under attack of IS rebels last week.
In addition to the fighting, residents are living in inhumane conditions,
without access to aid—food, water and medicines.
Merciful God, we pray fervently for an end to the violence there and that
the weight of international law will end the longstanding Palestinian refugee
crisis. Lord in your mercy…
In the coming days as we remember the
Deir Yassin Massacre of 1948 and later this month the Holocaust and the
Armenian and Assyrian Genocides, we pray desperately that these horrors will never
be repeated. God, comfort all the survivors of these terrible events and lead
us all out of cycles of violence into the way of peace and neighborly love.
Lord, in your mercy...
Last week Israel’s top court blocked
the planned extension of Israel’s separation wall through the Cremisan
valley—home to two Salesian monasteries and a convent school. The planned route would have cut off around
50 families from privately owned Palestinian land and several hundred school
children in nearby villages from the school.
God of grace, we give thanks that the Cremisan community was ultimately
able to save their land after their 9-year campaign, and continue to pray for
the many Palestinian villages facing the same struggle. Lord in your mercy…
Lord, we pray for the Orthodox Easter
celebrations this week as well as the Passover celebrations of our Jewish
neighbors. May it be a blessed time for
all with their families and communities.
Lord in your mercy…
We pray alongside the World Council of Churches for the
countries of East Timor, Indonesia
and the Philippines.
Lord in your mercy…
