Lord, we praise
you for the release last week of nuns kidnapped fromMa’aloula, but pray that as
the Syrian war enters its fourth year, you protect all of the Syrian people and
bring peace to the entire region. The recent battle over Yabroud and the bombing
in Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley remind us that people across the Middle East urgently
need your mercy and grace. Lord in your mercy…
The peace
negotiations are entering a critical stage, as Pres. Abbas holds lengthy
meetings with United States political leaders early this week. We continue our
prayer from last week: that you grant these leaders courage to stand on the
side of truth and that you remain faithful to the people of Palestine and
Israel in bringing about peace with justice. Lord in your mercy…
Again the
situation in Gaza seems desperate: Israeli airstrikes, the Israeli blockade of
fuel imports, and recent cuts by the UN Relief and Works Agency cruelly punish
the people of Gaza, whose desire is to live with dignity and freedom. Gracious
Lord, we know that your faithfulness will always endure; please lift the
blockade, provide the people of Gaza immediate material relief, and open paths
for us to positively impact the situation. Lord in your mercy…
Lord, please
continue your blessings on Sabeel’s programs. We praise you for successful and
well-attended screenings of the film The Stones Cry Out during this past
week, and we ask that you would bless our events and activities for this coming
week, including Sabeel Nazareth’s meeting with Machsom
Watch and Sabeel
Jerusalem’s upcoming Women’s Lenten program. We also ask for a successful FOSNA
conference in San Francisco this week. Lord in your mercy...
Lord, we pray
alongside the World Council of Churches for the countries ofCambodia, Laos, and
Vietnam. Lord in your mercy…
