Lord, this past weekend
saw more violence as Israeli military forces raided Jenin refugee camp, killing
three Palestinians during a shootout. We
pray that this incident does not result in further escalations that would make
peace even harder to achieve in this land. God, the people are hungry for peace
and justice. Lord in your mercy…
Gracious Lord,
the annual commemoration of Land Day occurs this weekend (March 30),
remembering the continued dispossession of the Palestinian people. We ask that
you would keep the demonstrations nonviolent and that you would protect the
protesters, but ultimately we pray that you not allow Israeli land
appropriation to continue. Lord in your mercy…
Loving God, please
bless the many villages in the Negev and Galilee that are unrecognized by
Israel and under threat of demolition. We particularly pray for the village of
Umm al-Hieran, whose appeal against the demolition order was recently denied.
Lord, please bless the villagers and stop the injustice. Lord in your mercy…
God of justice,
we ask that you bless Sabeel’s upcoming school program at the Tent of Nations
outside Bethlehem. Show the children the way of nonviolent resistance and
inspire them to continue seeking justice for their people and the world. Also,
please bless our upcoming community Lenten program in Jericho and allow for a
successful FOSNA conference in Philadelphia this weekend. Lord in your mercy…
Lord, we pray
alongside the World Council of Churches for China, Hong Kong, and Macau. Lord
in your mercy…
