Everlasting God,
Holy Week in Jerusalem meant increased restrictions, roadblocks, checkpoints,
and arrests within the Palestinian community, especially in the Old City. God,
we long for the day when the Holy City is a place of unity rather than
division, when occupation has given way to justice which restores the spirit,
and peace which refreshes the soul. Lord in your mercy…
This week we
remember the many killed during the Armenian genocide, and particularly lift up
the Palestinian Armenian community, that they may feel your presence and
comfort. And as we commemorate this massacre, enable us to recognize injustice
wherever it occurs and empower us to act as messengers of your peace. Lord in
your mercy…
Merciful God, fighting
rages on in Syria and seems to have no end. Please bless the courageous
peacemakers who are working to stop the daily atrocities, surroundthe Syrian
people with your love and peace which surpass understanding, and bring this war
to a just resolution. Lord in your mercy…
Lord, please
bless Sabeel’s programs for this week, including the Easter Dinner in Jerusalem
on Saturday and Sabeel Nazareth’s activities. Please continue to guide the
transitions currently happening in Sabeel, and allow our work to glorify your
name. Lord in your mercy…
Lord, we pray alongsidethe
World Council of Churches forthe countries of Djibouti and Somalia. Lord in
your mercy…
