28/6/12 - English

We rejoice that the pension fund giant TIAA-CREF removed Caterpillar, Inc. from its Social Choice Funds portfolio. Catepillar, Inc. is a corporation responsible for producing regular and weaponized bulldozers used by the Israeli military to demolish Palestinian homes, destroy agricultural land, crops, and to construct settlements.  On May 1, 2012, financial data posted on TIAA-CREF’s website valued Social Choice Funds shares in Caterpillar at $72,943,861. Today it is zero. We pray for the ongoing efforts worldwide to encourage individuals and companies to stop supporting the Israeli occupation. Lord in your mercy…

At this historic time, we pray for Egypt’s new president, Mohammed Morsi. We pray that he would be able to govern in a way that fulfills the aspirations of all the Egyptian people for change, equality, freedom and democracy. We ask for God’s guidance for the new government, and that the people will continue with their nonviolent actions to secure an Egypt run by a single rule of law that respects their cultural, political, and religious diversity.  Lord in your mercy…

As school ends and the summer heats up, we pray for children of Palestine and Israel.  We especially think of the children of Gaza, and ask God’s protection over them this summer.  We also pray for the children’s program of Sabeel Nazareth this weekend, as they celebrate the holidays honoring St. Peter and St. Paul.  Lord in your mercy…

We continue in prayer for the young adult conference, for the participants who are still trying to fundraise for their trip, and for the organizers as they finalize the program. Lord in your mercy…

With the World Council of Churches, we specifically pray for the churches and population of Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay. Lord in your mercy…
