Three young Palestinians were shot dead by Israeli forces this week:
a 17-year-old boy in East Jerusalem who allegedly ran towards soldiers wielding
a knife, an 18-year-old boy in Jenin as he breached the separation barrier, and
a 20-year-old man who stabbed and wounded a soldier at the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron
where soldiers prevented Palestinians from worshipping. Merciful God, we
pray that Israel’s chronic military occupation—the root cause of the conflict—
will end so that all people can live with their rights and dignity in this
land. Lord in your mercy…
To protest the recent home demolitions in Israel, the Arab Higher
Monitoring Committee called for a general strike in the Arab sector in Israel on
Tuesday, including schools, businesses and municipal councils. Lord, we pray for an end to Israel’s
policy causing a housing
crisis in Arab communities and its unjust practice of demolishing homes of Arab
citizens of Israel. Lord in your mercy…
Last week a Jewish group in Canada threatened to derail the Friends of Sabeel conference in Vancouver on Christian
Zionism. Lord, we are grateful that the conference was very successful
and filled with rich stories and important presentations examining the negative
impact of Christian Zionism on a just peace. Lord in your mercy…
Lord, we are thankful for our Nazareth office and ask for your
blessing on its programs this week including a children’s meeting and two
visits with French groups. Lord
in your mercy…
We pray alongside the World Council of Churches for the
countries Eritrea and
Ethiopia. Lord in
your mercy…
