15/10/2015 English

·        O God we know your son, our Savior Jesus, that night in the Garden of Gethsemane felt alone, afraid and in pain. His disciples had fallen asleep. His spirit was crushed. He was betrayed and surrounded by soldiers to arrest him. Peter in anger lashed out with a sword to stab back. Palestinians in Jerusalem, throughout the West Bank, Gaza and in the state of Israel, feel that same loneliness, fear and pain. Friends have fallen asleep. Our spirits are crushed by extrajudicial killings and military occupation. Let this cup pass from us.
Lord hear our prayer/ And let our cry come unto you.
·        The disciples went and woke him, saying, "Lord, save us! We're going to drown!" (Mathew 8:25)   "Lord," Martha said to Jesus, "if you had been here, my brother would not have died. (John 11:21)  Lord, as your disciples and friends did, we call on you and seek your intervention.  All the people of your land are drowning in violence and despair and need your presence.  Decades of discrimination and dispossession have had their toll on us and we need help. Please Lord let us hear your voice and feel the warmth of your hand through the churches around the world. May your spirit move in churches to light candles and hold special prayer services of solidarity with our people this week.
Lord hear our prayer/ And let our cry come unto you.
·        Prince of Peace, who blesses us with the task of embodying peace in the world, we ask a blessing on Sabeel’s on-going ministry. May we speak truth prophetically, may we live justly, may we love our neighbours readily.  We pray for the Sabeel programs this week. For both the Nazareth book launching community-event and the youth ecumenical worship this Wednesday with the Mother Teresa sisters.
Lord hear our prayer/ And let our cry come unto you.
·        We pray for the upcoming witness visit from the 3rd to the 11th of November.  This year we have a diverse group of 30 people joining the tour.  We pray for an enriching and fruitful visit that will enable the participants to see and learn, first hand, the situation on the ground.  We pray that they will go back inspired and encouraged to continue the work of justice and peace for this troubled land.
Lord hear our prayer/ And let our cry come unto you.
·        We pray alongside the World Council of Churches for the countries of Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal

Lord hear our prayer/and let our cry come unto you
