02/07/2015-- English

The Gaza-bound flotilla holding around 20 international activists and humanitarian cargo was taken over and redirected by Israeli military on Monday.  Lord, we are thankful for the non-violent efforts of these activists to highlight the injustice of Israel’s cruel blockade that is economically choking Gaza.  We pray that ultimately this blockade is lifted and that desperately needed reconstruction in Gaza can begin.  Lord in your mercy…
This week Israeli authorities agreed to release later next month Khader Adnan, a Palestinian administrative detainee who is on the verge of death and was on a hunger strike for 55 days to protest his detention without charge or trial. Lord, we pray that his deteriorating health does not increase tensions and improves.  We also pray that his non-violent protest further exposes the injustice of administrative detentions, currently affecting around 370 Palestinian prisoners.  Lord in your mercy…
Many people in the Middle East are suffering, and those who are observing the holy month of Ramadan are fasting under very difficult conditions.  Lord, whether it’s unfathomable war in Syria, brutal attacks in Kuwait and Tunisia, or the deadly heat wave in Pakistan, be with your people and let peace reign throughout the region.  Lord in your mercy… Lord, we pray for your presence to be with the Sabeel staff as they continue to work for justice and peace in Palestine. Please bless them as they prepare for strategizing meetings and upcoming programs, including our 2015 Witness Visit in November.  Lord in your mercy…

We pray alongside the World Council of Churches for the countries of Bolivia, Chile and Peru.  Lord in your mercy…
